Question: How do I buy an image from TerraFly if I like what I see on the screen?

Answer: Please follow the following steps to purchase imagery on TerraFly.com: 1. Fill in the address, or the city and state, or the zip code of the area you would like to see, and click the "fly" button. That will open two pop-up windows – “Fly Frame” and “Control Window.” 2. In the “Fly Frame” window Click on the download button on the TerraFly toolbar. 3. This should unveil another toolbar with two buttons: “Mark” and “Dispense” 4.You can mark your area of interest by dragging the mouse pointer and creating a red rectangle. Once you are done selecting, you can click “dispense” and that will take you to the “Marked Area” page. You haven’t purchased the actual image. Once you get to the marked area page, you will see different data sets available for your area of interest. By default you select USGS orthorectified 1m B&W JPEG image. At this page you can select different sizes and resolutions and even order prints.

Answer: The images shown under the “Recommended Starting Points” cannot be purchased using Terrafly. If you like any particular area you can contact us by sending us an email at tf-custrelations@cs.fiu.edu.

Question: Will I get my image instantly?

Answer: Most images require some processing before they can be delivered to the customer. Therefore, images are delivered via E-mail within one business day of the purchase. It is very important that you use a valid email address where you want your images delivered.

Question: What is the availability and prices?

Answer: TerraFly hosts one of the largest databases online. We have aerial photography over 95% of the United States. These images are taken in the last 5-7 years and are available for immediate purchase. The price of these images start at $5.00 per image and varies depending upon the size of the area selected, the format of the image, the type of data and the date of acquisition. The browsing, or “flying” as we call it, is currently free.

Answer: TerraFly.com uses PayPal as its payment gateway. You have to be a member of PayPal to buy data on TerraFly.com. Answer: Check the accuracy of all of the information you have provided and make any necessary adjustments. When you are ready, click the “PayPal” button on the checkout page to submit your order. Once you place your order, we will send you a confirmation e-mail message. We will send you another e-mail message at the time of shipment (In case of a physical shipment of goods) or an email with download instructions in case of a digital image.

Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and Serbia.
